Academy Team Classes

Academy Tumbling ~ Combine your Starstruck Experience with a Tumbling Class before or after your Dance Class.  Our Tumbling Instructors are PREMIER. We offer tumbling classes for 3 year olds and up. Ranging from Beginning to Advanced skills. We have a state of the art 70 foot Tumble Trak and a 50 foot spring floor.  Our instructors can also teach Cheer and Power Tumbling techniques to help your dancer and/or tumbler with a standing back handspring, standing tuck, running passes, aerials, back walk-overs, front walk-overs, cartwheels, back bends and more. Please be sure in Tumbling Classes that your shirt will not fly above your head or be baggie.  Shorts should be a full cover and not show underclothing while stretching or moving.  No bare midriffs in dance class or tumbling class. Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floors, tumbling mats or tumble track.

Adult Tap Ladies ~ Always entertaining and always a crowd favorite.  These Ladies range from age 20 to 100.  WOW - we have tap for everyone.  Our Adult Tap Class offers a unique and fun environment for a nice evening workout with friends.  Come join the kids, or kick it up with the "ladies" tap.  SO amazing, SO fun.  From 3 years old to 99 years.  You will LOVE this class!

Ballet ~ Our incredible ballet program offers beginning through advanced levels.  Each class sets the stage for beautiful ballet discipline.  From 3 years old to 18 years old - our Ballet is Supreme. Our classes range from a one hour class to a 90 minute class.  Ballet is one of the oldest dance forms and is an important asset to any young dancer. Ballet not only builds the foundation needed to become a strong technical dancer, but more importantly a safe dancer. Students will develop their dance technique, flexibility, body awareness and discipline, through this graceful and beautiful form of dance. 
     Goals: To learn the positions of the feet and arms, proper  ballet technique, technical vocabulary, balance, flexability and pose in a non-traditional yet successful
                 ballet setting
     Activities:  Stretching, Centre Exercises, Across the Floor, Games, Dress Up, Creative Play, Choreography, Free Dance
     Attire:
          2.5-5yrs - Form fitting clothing, tutu’s are fine, hair pulled back with bangs off the face, pink ballet slippers are recommended
          5.5yrs+ - Tights or leggings with a tank top or body suit (form fitting clothing), simple ballet skirt is fine, hair and bangs pulled back off the face in a bun or pony
                          tale, must have pink ballet slippers


Mini, Junior and Senior Academy ~ These classes are one (1) hour long and designed to help your student prepare for drill, cheer, school and studio dance competition teams etc.  Academy classes include Jazz and Hip Hop choreography.  Academy Teams may compete at one local competition and perform 2 routines at our year-end recital.  Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floors, tumbling mats or tumble track.

Jazz:  This high energy class takes the technique of ballet and puts it into a fast and fun paced movement vocabulary. Students will learn a variety of movements that will work on body isolations and coordination as well as strength and flexibility.
       Goals: To learn jazz technique, balance, flexability, how to move to the music and how to be creative with movement through play and exercise
       Activities: Stretching, Centre Exercises, Across the Floor, Games, Dress Up, Creative Play, Choreography, Free Dance
       Attire: Form fitting clothes that are easy to move in (tight tank or t-shirt, leggings, body suit, shorts etc.), no jeans, 5.5+yrs should have beige/tan jazz shoes for

Hip Hop: In today’s culture, hip hop is easily the most publicized and known dance form. This class will allow the students to learn all different forms of hip hop such as popping, locking, house and much more. Get your funk on!.
       Goals:  To learn different styles of hip hop, how to dance to the beat of the music, coordination, how to work as a team and take direction
       Activities:  Stretching, Jumps, Spins, Centre Exercises, Across the Floor, Games, Choreography, Free Dance
       Attire:  Comfy clothes, no jeans and clean indoor running shoes


Mommy & Me ~ A great beginning introduction to movement and sound. 18 months - 30 months with parent and child together. A 45 minute class once a week.  Just enough to get you and your toddler out and movin'.  This is a parent participation class, which allows for child and parent bonding and assists in developing the child’s sense of rhythm, coordination, creativity, social skills and sense of play. Through stories, music, dress-up and dance parents can watch and aid in their child’s artistic development.
       Goals:  To develop a natural sense of play, introduce and instill a love for movement, develop body awareness, confidence and social skills, help to increase
                    bonding between you and your child
       Activities:  Creative Movement, Dancing, Singing, Dress Up, Instrumental Activities, Free Play, Story Telling.


Star Cheer Academy ~ This cheer class is great for ages 6 and up.  Class includes Motions, Cheers, Jumps, Dance & Tumbling.  Our awesome instructors come with excellent experience and will help your little mini cheer student be a STAR!!  Star Cheer Academy may compete at one local competition and perform 2 routines at our year-end recital.  The cheer squad consists of enthusiastic, dynamic, fun, hardworking students whose mission is to learn team spirit, pride and unity with a spirit of support for teams, fans and the community.  The squad may be coed, where the boys (commonly referred to as Yell Leaders) form part of the group with the Cheerleaders. It is a dynamic group of boys and girls whose hard work, dedication and commitment are part of the overall success of the Cheer Team. Performances range from halftime performances (invitations to pep rallies, spirit rallies, parades and or local competitions.  Street shoes are not allowed on the dance floors, tumbling mats or tumble track.
       Goals:  focus on develop jumps, cheers, vocals, group/team work, studio/school spirit, pride and excitement.
       Attire:  Form fitting clothes that are easy to move in (tight tank or t-shirt, leggings, shorts etc). 


Tap Academy ~ We have Children's Beginning Tap ages 3 - 6 years old.  We also have Children's Intermediate Tap for the more experienced tap kids.  Tap Academy may compete at one local competition and perform 2 routines at our year-end recital. 
Tap:  Tap allows for a dancers body to become a percussive instrument with the help of tap shoes. It uses jazz music and adds a rhythmic twist. Students will learn the importance of the music’s beat and rhythm in this high energy class.
       Goals:  To learn musical rhythm, coordination, basic tap moves and terminology, how to take direction, how to build confidence and self-esteem
       Activities:  Creative Movement, Free Dance, Across the Floor, Choreography, Rhythm Activities with Instruments
       Attire:  Form fitting clothes, no jeans, black tap shoes are required


Tots Academy 3 - 5 years old ~ We offer Tots Academy classes for 3 - 5 year olds.  This is a one (1) hour long class ~ 1x per week.  The class teaches the beginning basics of tap, jazz and ballet and plants the seed for the LOVE of dancing.  Tots Academy may compete at one local competition and perform 2 routines at our year-end recital.  The children will gain experience in ballet, jazz and tap. The basics of each style will be touched on and there will be lots of room for creativity. This is a great foundation class if your little one wants to continue dancing into the future!
       Goals:  To learn basic positions, movements and terminology of dance, flexibility, coordination, imagination, balance, pose and creativity
       Activities:  Centre Work, Across the Floor, Creative Movement and Play, Dress Up, Stretching, Choreography
       Attire:  Form fitting clothing, tutu’s are fine, hair pulled back with bangs off the face, pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes are required.
